Class Notes
 

Self-taught chef Joe Baker (English Literature, College of St Hild and St Bede, 2009-12) has joined cooking competition Great British Menu to get us through the quarantine period.

Julie Barton née Greenland (Education, College of St Hild and St Bede, 1985-89) has recently been appointed as the new High Sheriff of Cumbria.

Rod Bolitho (German, Grey College, 1963-67) co-authored a book for Multilingual Matters, Language Education in a Changing World.

Esther Dingley (Research Methods, College of St Hild and St Bede, 2007-09) cycled 12 hours for 3 consecutive days to raise funds for NHS charities, this was picked up by her local paper the Bucks Herald.

"We won't get these months back," said recent grad Luke Grenfell-Shaw (Natural Sciences, University College, 2013-17) after pausing his inspiring Bristol2Beijing cycling expedition raising money for cancer charities. While on lockdown, Luke is still making the most of his days. "If we don't," he says, "we're the suckers." See more here.

Stephen Israel (Physics, Van Mildert College, 1981-84) has recently produced his twentieth film Last Moment of Clarity.

Craig Lawrence (Engineering, University College, 1983-86) novel Reasonable Doubt that mentions Durham throughout has been published.

Fang Liu (Anthropology, St Chad's College, 2018-20) has been selected as a Gates Cambridge Scholar on the University of Cambridge's top postgraduate scholarship programme.

Sharon Ney (Philosophy, St Aidan's College, 1985-88) has published The Anquerian Alternative (Oslac's Odyssey) and is now working on book three.

Stuart Malthouse (Geography, University College, 1963-67) new book, An Atlas of the Railways in South West and Central Southern England. The book was aimed to produce a railway atlas with a higher level of detail than achieved previously.

Later this month Joe Ollier (Marketing, John Snow College, 2013-15) will be launching the Elena+ project which will offer digital lifestyle coaching on a variety of topics such as mental health, physical activity and COVID-19 health information to help keep us all healthy, protect our healthcare systems and protect our frontline healthcare workers. 

You can seek spiritual togetherness through live prayer with Angela Palacious (English Literature, College of St Hild and St Bede, 1971-74).

Budding lawyer Ben Williams (Arts Combined, Josephine Butler College, 2012-16) is up for a Future Legal Mind Award.
