A group of St Aidan's College alumni including Miles Wilson (Geology & Graphics, 2011-14) Evan Bolle-Jones (Engineering, 2012-16) Jack Pooley (Modern Languages, 2012-16) Henry Scott (Natural Sciences, 2014-18) and Paddy Alton (Physics, 2013-18) will be taking part in a Triathlon challenge they have called IROWMAN. This involves a 18 km row, 182 km cycle and 42 km run.
Katie Bell (Arts Combined, St John’s College, 2000-03) has been awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Industry Technician of the Year.
Oliver Camp (Modern Languages, Collingwood College, 2011-15) was named a GreenBiz 30 Under 30: a cohort of sustainability leaders working across a range of environmental and social issues.
Carla Denyer (Mechanical Engineering, St Chad’s College, 2005-09) is named one of the top women in engineering.
Kendal based Jacquetta Gomes (Economic History & Sociology, St Aidan's College, 1972-75) has been recognised in the UK’s 100 pioneering women list as the world’s first female Buddhist Fire Chaplain.
Lily Howkins (English Literature, Josephine Butler College, 2006-09) has written a short dystopian film that is currently in pre-production called A.R.P.U. which was inspired by the Netflix documentary 'The Great Hack'.
Hanna Khogali (Natural Sciences, Collingwood College, 2014-15) has recently walked 7 marathons in 7 days raising money for the current humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
Craig Lawrence (Engineering, University College, 1983-86) latest novel Reasonable Doubt in which Klute, Castle and other places in Durham feature throughout.
Alumnus Daniel McCrum’s (Economics and Politics, University College, 1998-01) short video shows his investigation into a 24 billion dollar company for the Financial Times.
Moira Newiss (Geology, University College, 1994-97) recently launched Skirrskin a sustainable sport skincare brand including an anti-chafing sport balm made from natural and organic ingredients.
Martin Talks (History, Hatfield College, 1985-88) has written the future-fiction novel, Blinky's Law.
Diana Wilkinson, nee Kennett (Geography, Trevelyan College, 1974-77) has had international success with her debut novel 4 Riverside Close selling over 50,000 copies since April.
Sorrell Wood (English Literature, St Cuthbert's Society, 2006-09) is being ordained as a deacon in the Church of England. |
