Our Vice-Chancellor was joined by industry experts and Global Fellows, Waylon Cunningham and Rosa Furneaux at the second Sir Harry Evans Global Summit in Investigative Journalism in London.

This year’s Chancellor’s Circle Dinner, hosted by our Chancellor Dr Fiona Hill at the Barbican in London, celebrated the impact of donations supporting crucial University projects and programmes. 

His Royal Highness visited alumni-founded Earthshot Prize 2022 finalist, Low Carbon Materials, at the end of April to learn more about their work.

The University is saddened to learn of the passing of Joan Kenworthy, Principal of St Mary’s College between 1977 and 1999.

Student intern, Katharine Chapman, assisted alumnus Mark Aedy (Geography, College of St Hild and St Bede, 1976-79) in collating his late father's memoirs. ‘From Bi-Planes to Fast Jets’ was published in May, raising funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Harriet Tebbs, who completed her undergraduate studies in Sport whilst at the College, began her new role as Vice Principal in March 2024. 

Around 60 Mary’s alumni attended the first College 125th anniversary celebrations at The Counting House in London in May. It was wonderful to see so many there to mark the occasion.

University College welcomed nearly 200 alumni back to Castle for the 75th Castle Society Reunion from Friday 12 –Sunday 14 April.  

A group including academics from our Department of Music has developed a new mobile phone app as part of a research study. It becomes a permanent fixture of our Botanic Garden. 

Dr Jack Symes has been recognised as one of the UK’s most promising arts and humanities early career researchers for his work on new approaches to the philosophy of religion. 

Alumnus Sir Graham Brady (Law, St Aidan's College, 1986-89), UK Conservative MP and chair of the influential 1922 Committee, spoke to staff, students and guests recently on a range of topics.
