Brexit, Trump, and the War in Ukraine: Democracy in Turbulent Times with Lord Kim Darroch (in-person and virtual)

As part of Durham University Global Week join the School of Government and International Affairs (SGIA) on Monday, 6 March 2023 at 6-7pm (GMT) for a conversation with Lord Darroch of Kew, the UK’s former Permanent Representative to the EU, National Security Advisor, and US Ambassador.

During this in-person and virtual event, Lord Darroch will share his views on the current state of Western Democracy, in the aftermath of Brexit, the Trump presidency, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Drawing on his extensive experience navigating complex global affairs, Lord Darroch will provide valuable insights on the difficulties and uncertainties facing democracies today and the role of diplomacy in addressing these challenges.

Whether you are an international relations scholar or simply interested in current events, this conversation will offer a fascinating perspective on the state of democracy in the 21st century.

The in-person lecture will take place on site in Durham within the Teaching and Learning Centre (Room TLC033), and will be followed by a networking reception.

The virtual event will be live streamed via Zoom. 

This event is open to Durham University alumni, staff and students.
