Durham Inspired: Live in Lockdown
Risk and Decision Making in the Covid-19 Pandemic

Wednesday 24 June 2020, 6pm (BST)

The 2020 Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a significant increase in fatalities, particularly in vulnerable groups in the UK during March and April. ONS statistics report that nearly 8,000 extra deaths were reported versus the five-year average for the 14th week of the year. Understanding the current position and the potential policy avenues is an intensely complex problem.

Durham’s Institute for Hazard, Risk and Resilience is working on a framework for non-medical professionals to help deal with risk and decision making as the pandemic continues and evolves.

Professor Julian Williams takes us through their approach, covering the scientific literature currently available and the knowledge as to what might be expected with anticipated scenarios for the pandemic.
