Durham Inspired: Live in Lockdown
Covid-19 and Reporting On Your Sustainable Development Goals

Thursday 30 July 2020, 10am (BST)

What does Sustainable Development mean for you and your business?

Now, more than ever, we need to work together to look after each other and the world around us. How do we balance our human development goals with sustaining that world? And how do we quantify the extent of our impact?

The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) sit at the heart of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They provide the blueprint for a more sustainable future by tackling some of the biggest and most urgent global challenges we face, such as poverty, inequality, climate change and environmental degradation.

The Sustainable Development Goals Disclosure (SDGD) Recommendations offer a new approach for businesses and other organisations to address their sustainable development issues. They attempt to establish a best practice for corporate reporting and enable more effective and standardised reporting and transparency on climate change, social and other environmental impacts.

Professor Carol Adams from Durham University Business School, author of the SDGD Recommendations, will talk to us about how these recommendations are important and can be implemented in light of Covid-19 and discuss the responses that organisations will be making.
