Durham University is a world leading centre of research in astronomy and cosmology – a position strengthened by the building of The Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics. The £11.5m centre draws together a team of international scientists, postdoctoral researchers and PhD students from more than 20 countries around the world.
Together we are investigating the mysteries of the cosmos, from the birth of the Universe through to the origin of galaxies and the nature matter, dark matter and dark energy.
As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Ogden Centre, we remain committed to conducting world leading research- seeking to understand the fundamental fabric of our Universe as well as to apply our methods and techniques to practical solutions to real world problems such as climate change and medical research.
The funding landscape for such research has and is becoming more challenging.
With this in mind, we are reaching out to our alumni and friends to raise funds to support a programme of fellowships and studentships for the Ogden Centre.
Every postdoctoral fellow or PhD student will be key to continuing our research, and funding for such activities offers students and early career physicists the opportunity to pursue a career in fundamental physics, which may not have otherwise been possible.
With your support, we can make this possible.
Every donation counts as we fundraise to support PhD studentships (£25,000 per year) and postdoctoral fellowships (£200,000 for a 3-year fellowship). Recurring gifts are particularly useful allowing us to plan ahead.
If you wish to make a larger donation or support the entirety of a studentship or fellowship, please contact Grace Norman at grace.norman@durham.ac.uk.
Thank you so much for your support of the Ogden Centre, your donation will make a great difference.
