Geoff
What kind of people make up the Durham alumni community in your area? Are they expatriates or locals?
It is a combination of expats and locals.  Durham has a strong international reputation and welcomes many international students.  Law is one of the most common subjects for Canadians to study in Durham given the similarities through commonwealth law.

What inspired you to sign up as an alumni volunteer?
I have been an Alumni volunteer in Dublin, Vancouver and now Toronto.  I like to meet new and interesting people.  Working as an alumni volunteer and arranging events for other alumni provides that opportunity as well as the chance to talk and reminisce about Durham.

What do you love most about your current location?
Toronto is one of the most diverse cities in the world, if not the most diverse.  There are people from almost all walks of life, culture and ethnicity sharing the same values and working together.  Toronto is a safe and welcoming city with vibrant neighbourhoods.  A short drive from the city, you find untouched wilderness for hiking, camping and swimming in the lakes or to spot the local wildlife, including moose, deer and bears.  In winter, there is a lot of opportunity to ice skate and ski/snowboard or go snowshoeing along the same trails you hiked in the summer.
