Durham alumni and friends are invited to attend the DunelmOTTAWA Summer BBQ on Saturday 20 August from 4pm at the home of A.J. Corner and family in The Glebe, Ottawa. We look forward to gathering outside and to celebrating this annual tradition for the first time since the start of the pandemic. We will also use the occasion to mark 20 years of local alumni connections since the founding of DunelmOTTAWA in 2002
DunelmOTTAWA will provide burgers (please indicate your preference of Beef, Turkey or Beyond Burger when registering). Please BYOB and bring a side dish to share (e.g., salad, fruit, dessert, chips and dips).
The address will be provided to registered guests in the week before the BBQ. We are located near Lansdowne Park / TD Place, so please note that most street parking in the area is 2-3 hours maximum (you can move your car to reset). The Lansdowne bus stop on Bank Street is very close, and underground parking at TD Place is also an option.
This is a family-friendly event - we have young children, and the fenced garden has a playhouse, water table, and sandpit. The garden will be almost entirely in shade by 4pm.
Please click the 'Booking' tab above to register your place. If the event is sold out, please email alumni.volunteer@durham.ac.uk to add your name to a waiting list..
Please contact A.J. Corner at ajcorner@dunelm.org.uk with any questions.
Events and Covid-19
The health and wellbeing of our alumni and supporter community is our utmost priority as we begin to see the return of in-person events. We look forward to seeing you again at events around the world organised and hosted by dedicated volunteers from the Durham community. The University asks all event attendees to follow local government Covid-19 guidance, as appropriate at the time of the event, as well as any other measures imposed by the event organiser and venue as they see fit to protect the health and wellbeing of guests.
In order to help in such variable times, should you no longer wish to attend an event after registration, you do not need to provide advance notice to the University or Event Host. We will continue to prioritise the safety of attendees at in-person events and offer online and hybrid event options as alternatives for all members of the community.
